Frequently Asked Questions

How do I select a my groom?
Not sure what to choose, check out our "Select Your Groom" page for help.  Still unsure?  Book a base groom and in the booking notes add you'd like help selecting the best service for your dog.  We will call you to discuss options over the phone.  Hop over to our "Learning Corner" to learn more about dog coat care - we have lots of topics available for easy reads.

Do I need to book my appointment or can I walk in?
At this time, we do not offer walk in appointments.  We do require your appointment is booked at least 12 hours prior to the appointment time.  However, if you're in a bind - don't hesitate to ask us if we can accommodate a last minute request.  Near the holidays, we will have some last minute groom days where we accept short notice clients for an additional fee when our books are full.

How long does it take to groom?
It really depends on the dog - we recommend clients allot 2-6 hours.  If you need extra time before pick up, you can also add on a daycare visit and pick up at your convenience.
We will give you an ETA at drop off and then send a text when we are closer to completion time.

I don't know how much my dog weighs.
We have a weigh scale for dog's at our facility and check weight prior to starting the groom to ensure accurate pricing.

Can I stay for the appointment?
You're welcome to wait in your car after your dog has been checked in.  At this time, we do not have an adequate area for guest observation being a home based grooming business.  If you're very concerned about your dog's care, please let me know and I will do my best to make accommodations.  Please know, while we think our dogs behave the best for us - they honestly do better when owner's aren't in the room/area.

How do I book a groom?
Visit our Book Today! page and select grooming from the services list.  Select your drop off date/time from those available. You'll receive an email/text confirming the appointment along with a questionnaire and contract to complete.  An invoice will be sent prior to pick up and is due at pick up.

Do you offer anal gland expression?
No, at this time we do not offer this service.
Why? Anal glands are naturally expressed by your dog.  If your dog's anal glands are beginning to cause an unpleasant odor - we recommend reaching out to your local veterinary clinic.  Anal glands have interior and exterior glands - most groomers only express the exterior and often it is in the interior glands causing problems.  While this is helpful for some dog's it may be covering up or not properly addressing an issue that is better treated by a licensed veterinarian.
Note: Working at a veterinary clinic - I've seen many anal gland issue appointments come into the clinic and the importance of proper care is very important for your dogs health.  Learn more from the AKC here.

Does my dog have to wear a muzzle?
We do not require a muzzle for dogs that have not shown any aggressive or inappropriate behaviors.  We do believe that muzzles aren't a sign of a bad dog - sometimes it's just the safest option for everyone.  Our business carries a variety of muzzles in every size and shape.  We prefer ones that allow your pet to open mouth breath if needed, grooming can be stressful.  Muzzles are only kept on during necessary lengths of time - such as just during the nail trim or blow dryer.

Does my senior dog have to stand the entire time?
Nope! We love our senior doggies and the best part about being a small grooming salon - we can take our time.  None of our groomers have a time limit, it depends on the dog's health and happiness. Often times our old pups enjoy laying down during the bath or on the table, either is fine by our team.  Our senior dogs have earned special treatment!

Does my dog have to be vaccinated?

Yes! We do require Rabies.  We STRONGLY recommend LEPTO, DAPP, Rabies, & Bordetella. Your first visit requires an updated vaccination sheet from your veterinary clinic or a home vaccination slip including serial/lot numbers of medications administered. (These are on the stickers of the bottle)  If you have a puppy in process of boosters - please let us know and we will plan a grooming day with a low visitor count for puppy safety.  Want to learn more about vaccines? Click here!
Note - we do accept a Rabies Titer (within the last 30 days) if your pet is unable to get a rabies vaccination.

Does my dog stay in a kennel when not being groomed?
Nope! The only time your dog would be in a kennel/crate is when I am accepting a pre-planned drop off/pick up (safety) or if they are drying (some dogs need a break from the big dryer).  Otherwise, they're allowed free range of the dog safe area and I let outside for regular potty breaks during their grooming visit.  Having a home based grooming business has a lot of perks - less kennel time is one of them!
Most dogs enjoy taking a nap on the couch upstairs after their groom - we love to spoil our clients.

How do I keep my pet clean?
Many people bathe their pets between grooming sessions or use pet safe towelettes or no rinse shampoo. This is a good idea to help keep your pet clean!  You should always brush your pet’s coat before you bathe your pet. Most people don’t know that this is one of the major reasons your pet’s fur becomes matted. If there are any knots in your pet’s coat, the water will keep making them become tighter until the groomer has no choice but to shave the coat short. Brushing before the bath will help to prevent this situation.

How often do I need to trim my dog's nails?
Many pet owners overlook the importance of regular nail trims. When nails become overgrown, it can be painful for your pet to walk. Long nails can also impact your dog’s posture and gait and can contribute to inflammation in the joints. In time, long nails can split or curl into the dog’s skin or paw pads, resulting in pain and infection. To prevent these issues, aim to trim your dog’s nails approximately every three to four weeks. Dogs that spend a lot of time walking on pavement may require less frequent nail trims as their nails will wear down naturally.

What happens if my dog has fleas or ticks?

If fleas are found on your pet during the grooming process, you will be alerted via text. To continue the groom at that time, your pet will require a flea bath, which is an additional charge (unless already elected). The charge covers additional bathing time, picking of remaining fleas found after bath, and sterilizing equipment. Please note that a flea bath alone will only kill the fleas that are directly present in your pet's coat.

To prevent further outbreaks your pet and any other pets in the household will require a flea medication, as well as a thorough cleaning of their living spaces. We personally recommend administering Nexguard, Bravecto or Simparica Trio flea control.

Do you groom cats?
At this time we only offer grooming for our canine friends.  You can try Soiled to Spoiled Animal Grooming in Castle Rock - they currently offer grooming for all species. I'm not sure of other options in the area.  Severe case? Many veterinary clinics also offer a "Clip n Bath" where pets are sedated for extreme matting cases - pets are clipped and washed while under veterinary care.
