What to Expect
Meet & Greets typically last 30–45 minutes. During your visit, we’ll

For everyone's safety and to avoid disrupting dogs already in our care, visiting dogs and guests are not permitted to interact with dogs currently on the property during a Meet & Greet.

- Talk about your dog’s personality, routine, behavior, and care needs
- Answer questions about boarding, daycare, grooming, and how we operate
- Show you our main-floor indoor space
- Visit the outdoor area near the barn when weather and property conditions allow
- Go over anything that will help you feel comfortable and prepared before your dog’s first stay
Your dog is welcome to come with you, but is not required to attend.

Scheduling & Cost
Meet & Greets are $25 per visit and are offered Friday through Sunday, based on our schedule and availability. If you book your first boarding or daycare service within 30 days of your Meet & Greet, we’ll apply the $25 as a credit toward that service.

Boarding & Daycare Clients
A Meet & Greet does not replace the required Temperament Evaluation for new boarding and daycare dogs. Temperament Evaluations are a separate appointment that allows our team to spend time with your dog and evaluate how they do within our environment. If you're planning to use boarding or daycare, we'll help you get that scheduled separately. (Learn More below)

Do I Need a Meet & Greet?
Nope! If you feel comfortable and are ready to get started, you can skip the Meet & Greet entirely. Meet & Greets are simply here for clients who want to see the space, meet us face-to-face, ask questions, or talk through their dog's needs before moving forward.

Temperament Evaluations
Planning to use boarding or daycare? All new dogs must complete a Temperament Evaluation before their first reservation. This gives your dog a shorter introduction to The Blue Hound and gives our team the opportunity to get to know them before they spend a full day or overnight with us.
What We’re Looking For
Our Temperament Evaluation is not about expecting a perfectly behaved or perfectly social dog. Dogs have different personalities, boundaries, play styles, and comfort levels, and that's okay!
During the evaluation, we’ll observe things like:
How It Works
Temperament Evaluations are $50 per dog and typically last 1–2 hours. Your dog stays with us during the evaluation while you head out and return at the scheduled pickup time. Evaluations are generally available Wednesday through Sunday, depending on our schedule.
Because we need adequate time, staffing, and the right environment to safely introduce and evaluate a new dog, Temperament Evaluations are scheduled directly by our staff. After you submit your request, we'll contact you with available appointment options.
What Happens After?
Once the evaluation is complete, we'll let you know how your dog did and whether we're a good fit for boarding and daycare. We may also recommend specific routines, playgroups, management strategies, or other accommodations that will help your dog be successful here. In some cases, we may recommend additional visits or determine that our environment isn't the best fit for a particular dog. Our priority is making decisions based on the safety, comfort, and well-being of every dog in our care.
